Saban may strongly suggest to the Bama brass that Dabo be his replacement.
Saban is the Bama brass for intents and purposes when it comes to the football program. Once he retires, he may take a consultant position with the AD

Saban also suggested to the LSU brass that Houston Nutt should be his replacement when the former left for Miami. Given that, not sure we should ever trust Saban's opinion on a successor.
His situation at Bama and LSU are not comparable. He has absolute control at Bama. There is no real friction between him and the fans/media/AD. And he has built something otherworldly. It doesn't operate like an elite CFB program, it operates like an elite professional program.
