Ole Miss for me. 22 straight incompletions from a kid who had a separated shoulder. Yet, Sumlin left him out there and humiliated him on national TV because he didn't want to answer questions about Kyler Murray. Then, Sumlin spent the rest of the season denying the injury and setting up fake QB competitions to cover it up.
Sure seems that way.
The ole miss thing was the most bizarre game I've ever seen. We're talking about a QB who'd been looking like an all-American up to a uncharacteristic Bama game not even able to compete a simple swing pass behind the line of scrimmage. And he was left in there to flounder like a punch-drink injured boxer whose manager refuses to throw in the towel. Shameful.
I wouldn't want to play for a coach who did that to me either and wouldn't even give me the dignity of acknowledging my injury. Props to Kyle Allen for being a class act through this whole season and his entire time at A&M. He deserved better than this and was let down.

Absolutely agree with this, Tbird. Sumlin lost me that night. Not only did he ship the Ole Miss game in by not putting in Hubenak until it was too late, he completely humiliated and hung a good kid and good Aggie out to dry. A coach, to me, has two primary responsibilities: 1) win football games, and 2) be a father figure to the men under your care. He did neither that night. That's when I realized I was done with him. He is not the man to lead A&M to the promised land.

Can't disagree. Good luck to him.

Yup. Should have told him if he wanted to be the next Manziel, he should be man enough to redshirt like Manziel did.
I don't think it was that simple. Sumlin says that and Kyler goes to Texas. If Kyler went to Texas then maybe (probably?) so does Mack and Lodge. That gives Charlie real recruiting momentum that he carries into this NSD, and maybe enough talent to make a bowl this season. That closes our window to steal some of their thunder.
But let me say I never thought for a second after the 2013 season that Sumlin could really win a national title at A&M. If he couldn't win one with the GOAT it's not happening unless the Chavis/Spurrier unicorn does it for him. To me the whole point of the Sumlin regime is to build up talent while Texas is in a down cycle (aka what is normally their talent) so that when they actually turn it around with Herman or Kelly or whatever hyped a-hole they will get we have a chance to win a title with the coach post Sumlin and maybe hold onto our talent position (and not be pushed back into the Texas Tech talent-level hell hole that the 2000's proved to me is the otherwise natural position for a modern A&M). He was always our John Blake at best, but it's obvious Rome wasn't built in a day. College football is a caste system like old India, and without four or five top 20 classes on the roster you don't have a chance unless your coach is a god. Oh and finding a God coach is like catching lightning in the bottle with your teeth. We need stability to recruit while Texas is down, personally I care more that we clean up the OC situation soon and sign a top 15 class.
Just my opinion though, and honestly that isn't a new opinion at that. Sorry for the long post.
