Should SEC implement P5 OOC rule?

Most of our programs already schedule such games every season, but there are some who do not.
We all agree most years an SEC schedule is tough enough, but adding a P5 team helps the outside image.
What are your thought? Should we move to 9 league games and no P5 requirement?

SEC coaches are in favor of 100% P5 out of conference games.

I don't think State should have to schedule anyone they don't want to. They already play in the West.
If I remember correctly, A&M's OOC is pretty piss poor, unless they changed it this year. I forget their schedule this year. But if they're such a better team than State, they should probably schedule a real team once a year.

SEC needs to implement this rule plus 9-game schedules with 2 rotating cross divisional opponents
But first secure an auto bid to the playoff.

We already have such a rule, passed it last year.

When will it go into effect? Miss State didn't have one

Auburn plays Clemson for the next 2 years, has Oregon for a neutral, and plays a home and home with The University of California.
Nice to see Auburn playing coast-to-coast in the future against the Pac-12.
Clemson, not so much. We have played them too often here lately.

Nobody but the SEC agrees that your schedule is "tough enough". You have gotten away with playing less conference foes, and this has historically resulted in generally an extra win for you all.
If you schedule a tough (or even an average)opponent to make up for the one-less conference game, that does at least put you on an equal footing with other conferences.
You don't schedule at least one reasonable OOC game? Then you are essentially in Baylor territory. They at least can argue that they play one extra conference game, and thus the B12 has 5 more guaranteed losses than the SEC has.
But I think all the power five conferences are going to go this route.

Correct, it's been a cop out for years. I think it will change though

Many of the Power Five conference coaches in college football told ESPN that they favor a schedule consisting of only Power Five opponents.
Of the 65 Power Five coaches from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC and Notre Dame, 46 percent (30 coaches) favored playing exclusively Power Five opponents while 35 percent (23 coaches) were opposed. About 18.5 percent (12 coaches) were undecided.

Alabama coach Nick Saban said "fans want" Power Five teams playing exclusively Power Five opponents.
"We need to be more concerned about the people who support the programs and the university and come and see the games," Saban said. "Those are the most important. But we never think about that."
Coaches from the Pac-12, whose schools already play nine league games, were the biggest proponents of a Power Five-exclusive schedule: seven in favor, one against and four undecided.
The Pac-12 coaches, such as Stanford's David Shaw, prefer the Power Five-only schedule model because they want each conference to play the same type of schedule. The Pac-12 is the only league that plays nine conference games and has a league title game.

Look at you! Already memorized our schedule for next year?

LSU should release a fragrance line called "Les Obsédés by LSU". Ya'll can probably just derive the smell from corndog cooking oil.

So there is an effort to ensure each P5 school plays at least 1 OOC P5 opponent or they want all OOC games to be against P5 opponents?

Yep...brain fart or beer
I'm more interested in 9 game plus P5 OOC then two powder puffs

I suppose we probably should.
Every time a team loses to a Toledo it's an embarrassment to the league.

I wish we would go to 9 game conference. And play 6 in division and 3 ROTATING from other conference. I hate having to wait like 10 damn years in between playing places.
With this schedule we won't play in Gainesville again until like 2026 or some stupid shite like that.
