The '99 Tennessee team was just as good or better than the BCS winning '98 team. All the future NFL players were playing not to get hurt.

Under Bama rules we did win the 1984 title (hell under Bama rules we might have won the 1995 and 2009 titles as well).

1945 Alabama:

@ Keesler Army Air Field (W, 21-0)
@ LSU (W, 26-7)
vs South Carolina (W, 55-0)
vs Tennessee (W, 25-7)
vs Georgia (W, 28-14)
@ Kentucky (W, 60-19)
@ Vanderbilt (W, 71-0)
vs Pensacola NAS (W, 55-6)
vs. Mississippi State (W, 55-13)
vs. USC (W, 34-14) *Rose Bowl

Alabama finished 10-0 and #3 in the final polls behind Army (9-0) and Navy (7-1-1). Their closest game was a 14-point win over Georgia and in their bowl game against a ranked USC team, they held them without a first down until late into the third quarter. The score was 34-0 midway through the same quarter when Alabama started pulling its starters.

You can't have a legit list like this unless it includes the 1959 Ole Miss Rebels.

I actually think 2013 Alabama should be on that list. I think they would have beaten 2013 Auburn probably seven or eight times out of ten. They completely collapsed in the bowl game when their dreams of a third straight title were dashed with a second to play, but they destroyed every team they played before Auburn except Texas A&M.
