That's why we will have mostly freshmen and sophomores starting next year.

Are we sure we're going to have mostly freshmen and sophomores and not crappy upperclassmen for the sole reason that they are upperclassmen? Because that was a Sherman problem as well (starting worse players who were more senior)

Last year, we started 4 upperclassmen:

RS-Senior LT
RS-Senior LG
Junior C
RS-Junior RG
RS-Sophomore RT

This year, we started 4 upperclassmen:

RS-Junior LT
Freshman LG
Senior C
RS-Senior RG
RS-Junior RT

Got WORSE starting the same number of upperclassmen.

Ifedi is going pro, and Matthews and Cheek are graduating. You're replacing 3/5 members. Gennessy will be the only upperclassmen. Koda Martin will be a redshirt sophomore, Sutherland will be a true sophomore, McCoy (I don't think we burned his shirt) will be a redshirt freshman, and Lanfear will be a true sophomore (we burned his shirt for a few meaningless snaps). That's your probable starting OL unless London can play. We literally don't have anyone else besides JJ Gus and Elbert. Stuckey is apparently done.

And you think that's somehow Jake Spavital's fault?? lol. We lost a first rounder (Ced), a fifth rounder (Harrison), and a guy who got invited to the combine (Gramling). They were all Sherman's guys. We replaced them with Gennessy, Cheek, and Sutherland.

Dave was left with a mess at OL, but he didn't make our OL better in any aspect. In fact, we very likely regressed, though it's hard to tell since our OL was terrible from the beginning of the season until the end. They tried to simplify things by moving toward more of a zone blocking scheme midseason, but that didn't work either. And then they continued to pull linemen, which repeatedly failed. If Dave could have shown improvement in his unit as the season progressed, I would be in favor of bringing him back. However, the reality is that his unit was terrible and never improved. Their technique and alignments were especially bad, and that's 100% on Dave.
