Why do SEC football schedules remain constant year over year?

Of course, there are some changes (such as when Texas A&M was added to the mix), but for the most part, it seems like LSU plays Miss. State first, Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss towards the end, and the East foes wedged in the middle. I would assume other schools are the same (not just limited to rivalries like the Egg Bowl and Iron Bowl).

This is more a question of curiosity than anything.

Tradition? I doubt there is a great reason other than that's the way things are or that's what the teams want. I'm sure if someone made a fuss, they would shuffle it around a bit.

Keeps things simple. And games, especially September games, tend to change over time.

Also, TSIO is on the fourth one. Nobody knows why that was changed. Oh, they'll claim they do, but that's just because they don't want to believe the universe is cold, unfeeling, and bad at math.
