No, sounds more like every team can't win a championship ever year and a 9+ win season is still a good season, not a 6-6 or worse season that justifies change

Have you looked at their wins? It all about perspective. I think 9 wins is a good season when at least a few of those wins are against teams with above .500 records. UGA didn't get those. They couldn't take advantage of some pretty dark times in the SEC east and have only been in contention for a national championship 1 time in his career. When your rivals (Auburn & Florida) are playing for and winning multiple titles in your coaches tenure, it's time to go. I think Georgia makes a great hire and will make the SEC even more competitive.

The timing was right to fire Richt after UCF ended his season with a losing season.

The expectation level of continual improvement has come to absurd levels across athletics.

Who are the great hires available, and you have to scratch every head coach's name from power 5.

Unless it's Tom Herman or MAYBE Kyle Whittingham, lateral move at best or potential step down.

Bert would sell his left nut to get to 9 wins.

Basically Saban is saying he afraid now that UGA will become the beast it was meant to be. Richt brought us to the edge, now the whole SEC can begin to tremble at the thought of UGA with a competitive coach.
