The Black Friday games were better for a number of reasons.
1) Both teams were actually good.
2) There were a lot of memorable moments like Ricky Williams breaking the all-time rushing record and the Bonfire game.
3. It was the biggest game on during the day and they didn't have to share the stage with the NFL. If you are a football fan, you tuned in to watch the Aggy-A&M game on Black Friday. When it was on Thanksgiving, people were basically all footballed out after two full NFL games and didn't care as much about watching that game. I certainly didn't.

If you are actually going to the game, and don't live within a couple of hours of College Station, Black Friday is the worst possible day out of Thanksgiving weekend to play a game, particularly early in the day--you still miss Thanksgiving with the family, and have just a short weekend left post game.
Frankly, if we are going to keep playing LSU on Thanksgiving in CS, since there is no avoiding an NFL game, I would rather play at noon, and get our game done as a lead in for the Cowboy game. The Lions usually stink, and I think we'd do better rarings-wise going head to head with that game than the NBC game at night. If CBS could get the schedule juggled so that they had the Cowboys the same year A&M hosts LSU, then you could even have that as a double header.
