Bama fans might not understand this, but the rest of us have to take what we can get.
Maybe some recent bandwagoners. But from when I was 10 until 25, we pretty much always sucked. And having moved from Alabama at 4, every SEC fan enjoyed pointing out how bad we sucked.

Meh, even on your worst day as a fan Bama was still Bama. Opposing fans still cared about beating you, the media still talked about you even if it was hypotheticals about your program dying. You haven't experienced the real pain of being a college football fan- irrelevancy.
There is nothing worse than being a fan of a program that has sucked for years to the point where no one sees them as a threat and no one cares about beating your team. There is no hope then, no way to even dream the next year will be better.

I'm sure it felt that way, but the fact is that's simply not true no matter your age. Bama hasn't had a 15 year run of suckage in the entire history of the program.
Bryant's last 5 years saw SEC finishes of 1,1,2,1,6 with 2 nattys. He retired after the 1982 season.
Even if you call all of the Perkins and Curry years as suck (and they weren't - Curry won the SEC in 1989), that's a stretch of only 7 years.
Stallings averaged 10 wins a year, won a natty, and made 3 SECCG appearances. No real suck at all. Only slightly sucked when compared to Spurrier.
After him, even if you consider the entire stretch of DuBose, Fran, and Shula as suck (and they combined for 3 10 win seasons and a SEC title), that was only a 10 year stretch.
And then came Saban.
If you want to go back further, it was only 11 seasons between Frank Thomas and Bear Bryant.....
