This has been a fact of college sports since way back when. If anything its much better then it used to be, coaches like Bear Bryant were often the single most powerful man in the state back in the good ole days. Formerly great coaches in the old days also over stayed their welcome. Spurrier is far from the first and will not be the last to do so. It is what it is.

It is a more televised event then it used to be and that could have a role in your declining interest. I think we will all admit that ticket prices and the general hassle of going to live games has increased in recent years. But its still grand sport and tens of millions of people tune in to watch.
