Fournette is Fournette no way around it. He will get his yards and if he's having an Auburn day we're in trouble. But LSU in my opinion will try to run Harris more on the read option. They showed it a bit early in the season but with a week off I think it'll be in the gameplan a bit more. Everyone focusing on Fournette... Harris can keep it more. If we can score on their D we win regardless though.

The limited amount I have seen he looks dangerous. I actually think we will have to play our best game of the year to win this one. Hope we can pull it off.

I think we'll do fine on Harris runs. He's not experienced enough to cause any havoc in that part of his game against this Bama front 7. We limited Dobbs to just 17yds. on the ground counting the negative sack yardage. Harris isn't anywhere close, yet he could eventually be a good read option QB if given enough opportunity.

He's not the second coming of Joe Montana or anything but he has improved dramatically just since the opening game.
This sounds a little homertastic considering he has yet to throw a pick this season. JMO. Of course this will be his toughest test to date.

I know, I know. I am definitely being homertastic. I really just wanted some of the tiger rant trolls to see this to rustle their jimmies.

The thing that's encouraging about Harris is that he's learned how to quickly and efficiently go through his progressions and avoid making the big mistake or taking the big sack. He's mobile enough to buy himself a few steps to throw it away (or in a spot where only his receiver can catch it) when he senses pressure.
How much success we have in the passing game is going to depend more on the OLine giving him time, at this point I trust BH and I think the coaches do too. We have to present a credible passing threat in order to win this game and I actually think Saban will buck conventional wisdom and work to shut us down through the air first in an effort to break down Harris' confidence and make us one dimensional that way as opposed to focusing on LF and the running game first. It will be interesting to see what our counter for that is and how BH handles that situation if indeed that's what Alabama does.

If either secondary is in the right spot at the right time there will be plays to be made.
I guess I just don't see Harris as throwing up all kinds of 50/50 jump balls and the fact that he has yet to throw a pick this season would tend to support that. Of course he hasn't been perfect and yeah if he makes a bad decision at the wrong time it's going to cost us, but again the same could be said about an Alabama team that has turned the ball over a lot more this year than LSU has.

I dont expect Eddie and Geno in the box either, but LSU's team feeds off Fournette too much, so there is no way you let him get energized. That doesn't necessarily mean stacking the box, but definitely having Ragland and Foster out there together as much as possible. Lots of BASE 3-4 & Nickel in this game.

To be fair, Harris hasn't played an elite defense yet and several of his passes have been up for grabs and easily could have been picked by an alert secondary. The last score against UF before halftime is a perfect example, he just chunked it up and had the gator safety turned around at any point would have easily picked it off. Not saying Harris isn't good, I think he is and he will make some big plays with his feet and arm next Saturday, but I also think a pick or two will be there for the taking if our secondary is on point.

I don't disagree with this at all, just pointing out the reverse is also true and your QB, unlike ours, has actually thrown his share of picks this season.

This is true, but he has also attempted many more passes against better defenses. Add to that most of his picks came early in the season and the fact the he is protecting the ball fairly well now and I'm not worried about it. He may throw a pick against LSU, I'd be shocked if he threw more than that. I'm predicting we get two off Harris, we will see.

Florida's defense is very good. I don't know if it's as good as Bama's but you can't say that wasn't a strong test.
Certainty anything can happen, but it's hard for me to really reconcile this any anything other than the fan side of you talking to be honest given what we've seen out of both QBs this season.

LSU and Bama have had the luxury of having studs in the backfield. Both RBs make the offenses go IMO. The wild cards are the QBs. Whichever QB makes the most plays without TOs will win . How's LSU on special teams this year? Just asking because we know that kicking in this game could be huge.

quote:I'll give you that their defense is solid, but I'd argue it isn't spectacular this year and certainly not nearly as good as Bama. That Florida defense held LSUs offense to 28 points on the road, and as I mentioned the score before halftime was a bad decision by Harris and really should have been picked off. Harris will be facing a better defense in a hostile environment, so it is unlikely they will score as many as they did at home against a less talented defense in Florida. Do you think 20-24 points wins it for LSU in BDS? Maybe it does.

quote:eh, not really. Coker threw 4 picks in September while he was competing for the job. In October, he threw zero picks on the road at Georgia and at TAMU. Had two against Arkansas, one of which came off our receivers hands and one against the vols. He has also attempted almost double the amount of passes Harris has, which obviously will lend itself to more chances for picks. You may not like my predictions, but they are reasoned predictions. We will see soon enough.

Well #1 I don't agree that it "should" have been picked and #2 even if I did I bet I could look through Coker's throws this season and find a whole bunch of "should have been" INTs.

Saying you "expect" a guy who hasn't thrown a pick all year to throw two while also saying that you'd be shocked if a guy who has thrown 7 has more than one, and you think will likely have zero is not a reasoned prediction.
You're talking with your heart, not your head.

Coker has 7 picks in 8 games, most in the first month of the season. He is averaging less than 1 pick a game so me predicting that he won't have more than 1 is actually backed up by stats and facts. Thinking the best secondary in the SEC with the the most picks backed up by the best front seven with the most sacks will get a pick or two against a young qb in a hostile environment is also not outlandish.
Ps-- this is the Bama board, if you don't like our take, move on back over to your board or you will be banned here. Thanks.

I'm just trying to have an open, honest, and fair discussion about the game because that's not really possible on the SECr. I have been more than even handed in my analysis.
