Like that really happened... And somehow there are excuses being made to why that's ok...

We are going 4-8 this season my friend. We may have a great defense but this offense is just too awful to overcome. The numbers don't lie. LINK

Factor in the abysmal basketball team earlier this year....2015 may very well be the worst calendar year in Mizzou Football & Basketball history.

I dunno, the early 2000s were terrible for both no?

We went to the NCAA tournament in basketball from 2000-2003, the NIT in 04 and 05. In 2005-6, when Quin cratered the basketball program, Pinkel was 7-5. Quinn's worst record before 2005 was double the number of wins Anderson managed.

Who said it is OK? I see many that know WHY it happened but didn't say it was OK

Using the excuse of youth without any substantive changes to put your players in a position to win and expecting the fanbase to accept the rhetoric of "that's my fault, I shouldn't put that young player in this position" instead of showing some form of improvement is coming from Pinkel himself.

we wasted a A+ defense this year, not saying we cant have a defense like this next year but it just sucks to ever have to waste one.

Yeah. It's like when you find a drifter, knock him out with no witnesses, bring him back to the torture dungeon and your blades are dull. So frustrating.

Again, do you not think if there was a fix or he knew how to fix it that it wouldn't be fixed already? Is he throwing games? Is he stupid?
Unless you are an elite program you have down years, and sometimes even they do as well.
We are having one. It fricking sucks, but it is what it is.

As crazy as it sounds, if we can replace Brothers at LB, this defense might be better next year.
DLine is going to hurt some QBs next year.

Agree we can expect to occasionally have down years even 4-8 ones BUT this offense is not ever OK and if they do not move to upgrade the Offensive staff this may ruin Pinkel's legacy. Part of what we are seeing is bad recruiting at the time of the SEC move, what do you think this year will do to offensive recruits? This is historically bad offense and it should scare the shite out of all of us about what it could lead to.

If we keep Odom and Kul for the next few seasons, we'll have a strong defense. No question.
However, if we can't produce an offense to help our defense, I fear it will drive Odom and Kul away sooner than later.
Imagine what our team would look like this year if we didn't have Odom and Kul coaching our defense.
We'd be worse than Kansas.

I agree, all I'm saying is any time you have a top 5 nationally Defense, you cannot WASTE the year. these defenses are rare.

I understand for a program like Missouri it will be ebbs flows believe me I do.... But tell me this, why cape for a man who lost to a Kentucky team that almost lost to an FCS team(that put up multiple TD's) and a Vanderbilt team who hasn't beat a P5 team in 2 years? A down year right?
I personally think Pinkel is so stuck in his ways that he hinders any true form of progress during lean times when faced with adversity. So in essence that makes him somewhat stupid.
We were on a trajectory similar to Clemson. A large uptick with no conference championships, no signature regular season wins, division titles, and no BCS or big 6 bowls to hang our hat on. Except in the last few years they have blew right past us. They have made the hires on O/D that provided the proper aptitude to win(Chad Morris, Brent Venrables). They added multiple performances and wins against top tier competition and recruiting classes that has provided and influx of talent.
What have we done? Honestly what have we done? We won the east due to inept coaching by his counterparts which Pinkel took advantage of and that should be applauded. But what happens when things regress to the mean, where top teams have the proper staff to coach that top 25 talent?
I guess we will have more seasons of it is what it is...

I know the basketball team NEVER finished dead least in conference as we did this year. 9 Wins is pathetic.
Our football team with only 4 wins is also about as sad as it goes.

Lol, this always happens when we are losing.
What have we done? Hell, the Pinkel era has been the 2nd most succesful run of football in our school's history. You could argue the most succesful. But now that we are having a down year we have only won due to the failures of other schools. Give me a break. Pinkel is a very good coach whose system is a great for at a school like Mizzou.
Will we have more "it is what it is" seasons? You bet your arse we will. We will have several because that is who we are. My suggestion to any Mizzou fan is to enjoy the good times and brush off the bad ones. CFB is the most uneven playing field of any major sport in this country. There is a reason the same handful of schools win every damn year, and it isn't because the other schools have stupid coaches.
This year sucks, I'm frustrated as hell and the coaches haven't had a good year either. We'll be back though.

Ok I will concede and say Pinkel is great. His 40% record against top 25 teams, multiple division titles, and an average blowout score differential of 27pts in championship games has earned him that right.
Even though that was tongue in cheek you are right that he has been the best coach at this program. With that comes expectations that he has created.
During interviews before the SEMO game he explicitly said "This is the last time we bring up youth, it is not an excuse" - You can't then say "He is a young guy, and I shouldn't have put him in that situation" Or at media days 2013 when he stated "We are about winning championships at mizzou" (people in the hall literally laughed at him) - to now this belief that 4 wins is acceptable at a "championship" program.
Maybe Pinkel has reached his ceiling. He has not won an outright championship since 95. Maybe even as a CEO he just is not that good without breaks needed to establish the greatness he himself has put on this program. We as fans wanted to see this but he is the one to dictate expectations.
When I look at Pinkel I see a good/above average coach not a great one. A good/great coach is what we are witnessing in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A coach with a depleted roster and no identity who has transformed those young men into week in and week out competitors. So your logic states this:
That a team with totally different offensive personnel than its coaches overal philosophy can become competent on offense at UM, but because WDWWD here at mizzou we accept that Pinkel is great and just accept the fact that we will have 4-6 win seasons is ok. Got it.

I agree with much of what you said JQ but this OC situation and OL situation as well are causes for real concern.
Henson came in 2013 and inherited a strong maybe strongest group of Offensive talent in Mizzou History
a. 3 solid backs, 2 playing professionally
b. Incredible WR talent (DGB, Lucas, LWash,
Sasser & Hunt)
c. Best O Line I have ever seen at MU, 2 already
starting in the NFL (Britt & Morse) 2 others
should make the league in (Boehm & McGovern)
d. A competent QB in Franklin (playing CFL)
Sure that 2013 offense was nails and we switched our attack by cutting splits and running more downhill. Also decided to use the TE to block instead of running routes all the time. His changes helped and he gets credit for them BUT he has done little adjustments since.
2014 Offense was stagnant but helped by NFL Calibur linemen and 2 really good backs. Even with this talent they under performed badly. Mauk's glaring deficiency in mechanics and decision making was not addressed.
2015 Speaks for itself. No vision or idea how to run high percentage plays or take advantage of anything we could do well. See Vandy screen to Hans, 1st play how many times did we go back to that?? The running plays are easy to diagnosis as the defense as there is little to no deception, counter action or draws.
I agree this offense lacks explosive talent but no way it should be 127/128 in the nation. Matter of fact this offense has cost us this season and is so bad it could cost us the future as offensive recruits do not want to play in this shite offense.

I'm not going to take the time to address all of that because I've already laid out my points.
I will say I don't think you have a great grasp on the hierarchy of CFB as evidenced by your Michigan comparison.
All that aside though...ok, he's shite. Fire him. Now what?
