Everyone's gonna think I'm just trying to throw shite at LSU, but the answer is Little Brother Syndrome. It isn't the same as say Auburn to Alabama. LSU has always been a pretty good program, but being in the SEC they've always been in the shadow of Alabama. When Bama hit some down years and LSU won two titles in that span it was a great feeling, then Bama returned to the top, ruined the best season in LSU history, and has won 4 straight. All jokes aside, that would make anyone mad.
