I think a good start would be if we have 3rd and a quarter mile on them that we do not let them get a half mile for the first down...repeatedly.
That burnt me up last game.

quote:AU held UK to 5-of-13 on 3rd down conversions, or 38.5%, which is roughly the FBS average thus far this season (coming into the game, our season average was 47.1%, worst in the SEC by a wide margin and roughly #115th in FBS). So we played better on 3rd down against UK than we had all year, which is good news.

Now the bad news: UK was 0-8 (0%) on 3rd down attempts of less than 8 yards, and 5-5 (100%) on 3rd down attempts of 8 or more (specifically, they converted 3rd downs of 8, 9, 11, 11, and 22 yards).
On their final TD drive, they converted a 3rd-and-10 successfully, but PI against Auburn gave them better field position, so it didn't count in the above numbers. They also threw an incompletion on 3rd-and-4 later in that drive that resulted in another defensive PI to move the chains.
So, you had every reason to be burnt up.
