Spurrier should have taken his beatings like a manBased to the topic at hand.... 8 years ago today Tommy Bowden resigned at Clemson. Why didn't he take his beatings like a man?

he was fired. that year's Clemson team was much better than what Spurrier has now though.

I never said anything about Spurrier not being a man for resigning. it's his life

I do think his running out of press conferences after a bad loss was weak though. he likes talking trash after wins but can't stand in there like a man after a loss.

Athletic director Terry Don Phillips said his intent Monday morning was to have a candid heart-to-heart with Bowden about the football team. But Phillips said he was surprised when Bowden offered to resign.

"There wasn't a gun to his head," Phillips said.

"He put it on the table for the sake of the program," Phillips said. "I agreed."

Sounds like harikari to me.
