Reason is obvious. His team sucked (he said as much post game about players falling down without getting hit) and he couldn't do anything about it. He's probably tired of listening to all the conversation about who the next coach will be, and he wanted to quit on his own terms instead of looking like Mac Brown.

Kudos to the legend. Would have been glad to have seen him at LSU at some point.
