I can tell, when you say this...

most still don't care to travel downtown to do things

I was at Railroad Park a couple of Sundays ago, and it was packed. Every Barons game I went to this summer was crowded, both on weekends and on weekday nights. I went to 2 events at the BJCC this summer and every restaurant in the Uptown district had a wait for a table.

Downtown area has seen quite a change over the past few years. It has become a destination point for many.

I still don't have much use for the city government, but hopefully as more young professionals move in, the government will change for the better.

To say people don't like going downtown is simply incorrect. Some may not but it's become far more popular than previously. So much so that it's nearing the point that something needs to be done for transportation. Parking on a night the Barons are playing is a nightmare and Uptown parking consistently sucks.
