Could there be an expected legal consequence to this suspension that Pinkel expects to play out? I'm just curious about the length of the suspension. If there is fire behind all the smoke, why keep him at all? It's just odd to me.
And I guess we now know what Pinkek meant when he said Lock's play would have no effect on Mauk's return. It was all about Mauk's behavior and Lock would be starting regardless.

Personally I think there's assuredly fire behind the smoke. But I also think this is one of those times where we are better off never knowing what exactly the fire is.
"Integrity of the program" may be just a soundbite that Pinkel uses, but in this case I agree with it. We are all Mizzou fans and as much as we'd like to know the juicy details of what all is going on, there's no way for *us* to know without the whole rest of the world knowing too. And the rest of the world is filled with people who are not friends of Mizzou. In this case, I think that could be damaging.
The people at Mizzou handling all this are gonna be doing their best to ensure that the program and its student athletes come out of this in the best position they possibly can. Part of doing that will be that they will only ever say it was a "violation of team rules" and will "re-evaluate later" etc. Vague stuff.
If we hear any more than that, it will be from the non-Mizzou friendly media having grabbed hold of something it can run with. And that won't be good for Mizzou at all.

legal consequences work both ways, can't just drop a kids schollie based on "hearsay of wrong/illegal doing"... lawyers have to review/sign off on everything now days..
.. and I expect GP to work on giving Mauk every benefit of the doubt he can anyway, because that's just what he does with players who have earned spots, and I, for one, don't have a problem with it.
as I said before, I would expect Pinkel to try and "prove a point" and play MM anyway even in some pretty ridiculous situations, but as of now, I also would expect Hill and Henson (and Ricker and Washington) to corner him in the office and say "uh hey boss, let's think this through.."
