would cast some of the sub-standard (on Bama standards) performances of the last couple years in a different light

The last two bowl games (one of which playoff game) are not up to Bama standards, but let's provide a little clarity to the situation. We are still talking about a team that won the SEC just last year. They beat LSU on the road just last year. They beat what was, at the time, the #1 team in the country just last year.

Or is getting owned by Oklahoma and Ohio State business as usual all of a sudden?

Losing by 7 to OSU and having the ball on the final play of the game with a throw into the endzone with a chance to tie is "getting owned"? The OU game was a one score game and Bama had the ball with about 2 minutes to go before a sack, fumble, score provided the final margin. Being down by 7 with the ball in the final 2 minutes of a game is "getting owned"?
