Say what you will, but a young man whose dad and lifelong coach is fighting cancer coupled with tremendous pressure of a team with WRs who can't catch, an O-line that crumbles and a MASH unit at running back, and a fanbase and campus all blaming the QB and clamoring for his touted young backup to take over, all coming to a head with a loss at Kentucky...look, it's not too hard to see a young college kid doing something really really stupid to take the edge off over the weekend.

Sorry but excuses watched my dad die in front of me and did not result in me doing lines to "fight the pain". He was given the helm of a D-I football team and IF he was coking up or even dealing then I have ZERO sympathy for him. Sure hope he cleans up if true and hope his dad gets better but enough coddling him. He was a douche as a QB and never improved his skills, so no free ride there either.

I am happy you were able to avoid that. Others have not adjusted so well. My mother died from a terrible brain tumor my first semester at college. Watching her like that, for the years before the end had left me in a very dark place where I tried to drown out the world with every substance I could find. Fortunately, I had friends who were there for me when I hit bottom. Their intervention probably saved my life.

I just hope this kid has people like that around him.
