Even though Vandy doesn't have lots of success on the football field lately, I think sooner or later they will. I honestly like Derek Mason, he really fits in Vandy and he is no doubt one of my favorite coaches. It might be a random thread but I just saw on SECN or whatever that he was talking about his defense and he seems like a great guy.

Tldr; Derek Mason will be Vandy GOAT

He's a black Butch Jones minus the recruiting prowess.

I like him as a person but last year was rough, way in over his head. Vandy's D is stout since he took over and i'm pulling for them to do well

I as well like him a lot. But i dont think Vandy has the patience however. But this year, that defense really is great. Once they get that offense going, they'll be good.

He deserves credit for turning around Vandy's defense that quickly, but I'm not sure if whether Vanderbilt is going to be patient. He's going to need at least a 4-8 or 5-7 season this year.

If they find some sort of offense, they'll get back to being a major nuisance.

I think he may do enough to keep his job, but he would make an outstanding DC. May be in over his head for a HC though.

If he ever gets a competent offense, the dores will be a serious threat. He has the defense playing really well.

He's 4-12 at Vandy with losses to Temple and Western Kentucky.
His 4 wins have come against Austin Peay, Charleston Southern, Umass, and Old Dominion.
Yeah, they sure do have a solid coach with potential....

He was definitely in over his head last year as the HC, that team was really really bad.

This year though it looks like he's definitely improved as a HC, great move to make himself the DC. Their defense is legit and now that they're sticking to 1 QB the more he plays the better he'll become. This is also a Vandy team that's improved from week to week unlike last year, think he's definitely done enough to hang around after this year.
