We have 4 NFL guards on the line.
I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

Well, if that was truly the case, we should have a bad as running and screen game since Guards are pull on the line, but that isn't necessarily the case.

Both of our tackles were recruited as tackles, one guard was recruited as a center, the other guard was recruited as a guard, the center fit in as center, he was recruited as a guard by Petrino IIRC.

The line has been cross trained to play interior or tackle, which isn't a bad thing.

We have a solid running game. The last 2 games we've ran the ball very well.
The problem with 4 guards on the line is we don't have any "athleticism" on the edge. Guards pull but most are not the athletes that true tackles are.

It doesn't matter what they were recruited to play.
You are what you are. Tackles in college get turned into guards all the time once the enter the NFL.

If you are talking about Smothers, then he was actually recruited as a tackle, even started his first game at LT in Tuscaloosa
