I don't agree with this law but this is the dumbest argument in the entire thread. For over 20 years the federal government has required a picture ID and registration from every licensed dealer in the country for every firearm transaction.

Since 1986, Federal law has forbidden a gun registry and it's been upheld in courts. San Fran is attempting to do just that with their law. The Gov't cannot and does not take or store information from 4473 forms that you fill out at dealers when purchasing a firearm. They are kept on the premises of the FFL dealer.
