Grits is a fan of basically everyone. He's the fan we would all normally make fun of, but it's not fun to pick on the elderly.

I have been on the playing field and emerged victorious
I have been on the playing field and tasted defeat
Win or lose I would be less of a man if after the battle was fought I did not find fellowship with the combatants of both sides. It is what happens after that follows you through life and some of my supposed "enemies" became my closest friends. I tend to be more open and accepting because of this.

In modern baseball.
Back in the day it was the west coast running the sport until the SEC got their foot in the door. Tigers are in 5th place behind So Cal, Texas, ASU, and AZ. So Cal was a beast in the 60's and 70's. Tigers took off - and the SEC in general - after the realignments of the early 90's.
