one problem with this, Long would hire a spread coach and we would start completely over again..

Meh, I don't buy that, especially if it's a spread-to-run coach. Gary Andersen took Bert's foundation at Wisconsin and won 19 games in 2 years.

Plus, we actually have a decent crop of receivers, so I'm not buying that the transition to a pass-oriented offense would be painful.

Our transition from Nutt to Petrino was painful because Nutt's last few classes were horrendous and he pretty much stopped recruiting in 2007, which forced Petrino to have to play a ton of true freshmen in 2008.
