Lets try to guess what Chase Abbington did to get such little playing time.

I've heard he came in out of shape and over-weight, cool that may be, but hes averaging over 7 yards a carry. Mauk missed him in the flat and check down SO MANY TIMES, its like he hates Chase.

Based on a small and I mean very small sample, Chase is the #2 back until Ish or Morgan proves otherwise.

So did he kill a teammate over a girl and is now in the dog house?

He didn't make it to camp until August....when he was out of shape and overweight.

Probably doesn't know the entire playbook yet.

As the season goes along...I think he will get more reps.

Luckily for a RB you dont have to learn that many plays, at least to get in for a few plays. Even if its the same play over and over. The point is we barely beat Uconn and Arkansas state due to the running game(and some o line). Play the better players.

Some of it is that Pinkel likes players to have seniority in the system. Some of it is that he's probably not really bright. Some of it is that he was probably a bit out of shape. Some of it is Pinkel is stubborn about how he grades players.

And if he's not getting more time in the next 4 weeks, it's not going to be helpful to the team. I don't really want to see a lot of handoffs to Witter even as a backup to Hansbrough.

It's all of that, I believe. Plus didn't word come from camp that he ran tall and soft? Like his build? He can't play that way against the competition we will be facing. He needs to start running like a bruiser.

Pinkel also likes his players to earn their playing time.

DGB didn't play much early his freshman year. Played a lot by the end.

Josey in 2011 & 2013 wasn't the primary back at the beginning of the season, but both years became the number 1 RB.

Golden & Ray didn't play much early in 2013, by the end they weren't far off of an equal split with Sam & Ealy.

Yeah I don't what we will end up doing, but something needs to change at the RB position. It is pathetic and makes us one dimensional with a QB who is apparently a mental midget.

See my last point. Josey might never have seen significant playing time without the three people ahead of him not being available.

The biggest change will be Hansbrough coming back healthy.

Based on snap counts he will probably play 65-75% of the snaps. Leaving only 20-25 snaps for the guys that are currently playing the position

I keep seeing posts about Pinkel being stubborn. Is that just about the offense? Because the defense seems to work on talent regardless of seniority.

So it's your belief that GP will lose with MM vs. winning with DL?

He did lower a shoulder last game. Was happy to see that

He seems more stubborn about the offensive side to me. But that could be just my perception.

Defense is a different story. Only positions that don't rotate are the safeties usually.

On offense, QB's (minus one series) and OLine don't rotate (except LG apparently).

Most people just don't notice rotations.

So really, Pinkel isn't being stubborn, he's just not having a kneejerk reaction and pulling Mauk every few series.

This thread is about Abbington. And Abbington was pulled after he made a mistake. Is that knee jerk? How about Lock not coming on the field against ASU after an interception?

Yea the defense is full of young players playing over older guys.

Sherrills > Browning
Newsome > Green
Brady, although Harris is the only guy that played last year.
TBJ> Hatley & Logan

Offense has/had
Crawford & Abeln over seniors.

The biggest problem for the offense has been the hit or miss class that Mauk came in with. It either produced starters or had guys dismissed from the team.

I'm confused. I was just saying that certain positions rotate players, which is different than others. From a thread started about abbington, I'm a bit lost.

As for stubbornness...I think everyone was referring to QB, which I agree with.
