The ball was over the line of scrimmage for sure. ESPN's grey line isn't quite on the line of scrimmage.
His leg wasn't completely over the line though. They got that part of the call correct. Definitely needs to be changed.

The ball is out of his hand in that picture, I cant find replay with the same angle that was shown during the game, that shows the ball leaving his hand on the yard marker not the grey line.
I agree the rule should be change to where the ball is at the time it is released. The linemen downfield is an issue of itself. I don't think it should be reviewable however db's are taught to read the Guards and Tackles to know whether its a run or pass. The offense has the advantage until its corrected.

Well you need to go back and review the rules because it's not were the ball is released it is if any part of the QB is still behind or on the LOS.....thus your picture actually proves that is a legal pass!
