They also took a chance on a guy who had 1 head coaching job previously and another who only had not been the head coach of a major program[/quote?

WTF?Took a "chance"?Are you freaking kidding me?Spurrier
was actually HC in the USFL for 3 years before Duke and
was of hottest HC candidates in CFB after he led them to an ACC championship. It was a freakin no brainer for UF to hire em.Galen Hall had been fired half way through
the year before for NCAA violations. The program was a mess.

Urban Meyer?Once again WTF?There wasn't a hotter HC candidate in the country when Florida hired em.Actually accepted the ND job before he changed his mind and took UF job.Once again,a complete no brainer.

[quote]Give em Hell Pell would still be coaching at Florida

Pell had 26-33 record and no SEC championships. He was fired for major NCAA recruiting violations. Are you comparing UF's situation in 1983 to UGA and CMR currently?

You miss the point. Spurrier coaching in the non-NFL and at Duke carried a ton of risk.

Meyer not coaching at a major program carried a ton of risk.

You're counter point is that the were "hot" coaching candidates.

So, was Muschamp. One of the hottest bar none. Hell, he had the Texas job wrapped up (HCIW), just didn't want to wait on Brown to call it quits, so he jumped to Fla.

The point is - what do you expect from the program? You want 6 - 10 wins a season and a Florida bowl, you got your man. You want SEC championships and a NC championship, probably not. It is not bad to support Richt, but recognize him for what he will bring. The gift of Pruitt is really nice, enjoy it while you can as someone is going to come knocking. The squatter may be a problem, certainly looked like it vs Vandy.

The best comparison to our Richt is Pelini. He won the following. 9, 10, 10, 9, 10, 9,9 at Nebraska.

They fired him. They wanted more.

Our administration doesn't and all of the Richt supporters don't either. As

And that's OK. I have adjusted my expectations. Just don't bitch when we wind up in the Independence, Gator, Belk, Birmingham or maybe if we play our cards right the Outback bowl, while others populate the major bowls and the playoffs.

As to Pell as an example, they could have done worse as he won some games, so that according to streaker and perhaps you, should be avoided at all costs.

Personally, I have resigned myself to the fact the Richt will retire at the time of his choosing unless the wheels really fall off and the money follows. And being in the top 3rd of the SEC and winning the SEC and A NC is not in the cards. I don't like that, but I accept it.
