Exhibit A

So Market lost this jump ball because he wasn't experienced enough? He was in position to make the play, but couldn't, why?? Lack of size/athleticism (limited)

Exhibit B

One of our most experienced corners, gets roasted by a CUSA WR...why?? Lack of top end speed (limited)

If a guy is faster than you, he just is. If a guy can jump higher than you, he just can. There isn't anything you can do to change it. you're only going to get kids so far before natural ability takes over.

Just not true, at all. You can always improve athleticism. Why do you think so much emphasis is put on S&C? Developing those muscle tissues and ligaments is everything. There are kids that get top notch S&C for 4 years in highschool, but most of the ones in MS aren't those kids.

Can you make someone taller, no. Can you make them faster? Absolutely. The issue is with a lot of these kids you have to work on everything at once. It's hard, if not nearly impossible, to work on putting weight on a kid while simultaneously working on his speed and coordination and have quick results. It doesn't happen in a year. That's why we develop less recruited guys. The difference isn't something they will never have, it's just that they are a year or more of physical development behind some of the higher rated guys.

And by the way, the WR from UAB was a track guy. I'm sure you're aware of this but athletes that run track are significantly faster than football players, mainly because they don't need that extra weight I mentioned. Literally all they have to work on is speed.

ETA: Not saying everyone improves. Because some simply aren't putting in the quality work that others are. But to say that Market can't is just silly. There isn't some physical ceiling that he's hit. And that is only half of it, I would argue that most of his mistakes have been mental. Go ask our safety coach if someone being faster than you is a good excuse for getting burned.
