I'm sure you thought Todd Gurley would unquestionably be the best back in 2014 too.

But he was by a country mile

Melvin Gordon ran for 2500+ and 29 TDs. By what measure was Todd Gurley better than him?

Any team would love to have either. Looking forward to watching both.

UGAs backfield should be nasty. 3 five star backs, solid OL. Cant wait!!!

Watch this video - it has the highlights for both from last year.

LINK

Both are impressive. What stood out to me is that Fournette had way more runs where he was never touched while Chubb was breaking tackles left and right to get his yards. That truck stick from Fournette was impressive but the shear number of broken tackles from Chubb was more impressive.

Hopefully, both guys stay healthy and get a chance to be the workhorse for their teams throughout the season. If that happens, then we will have a much more comparable body of work to discuss.

An excuse for what exactly? LF did just fine his freshman season.

Stats don't matter. Gurley had more potential coming out of HS. Gurley > Gordon.

See how stupid that sounds?

By NFL scouts measure? Ever seen a back walk onto the draft stage with a torn ACL after being picked top 10?

So, you'd say Melvin Gordon is the better back? I guess those NFL GMs just like wasting top 10 picks then.

Gordon is an absolute beast and put up a monster season, but Gurley was still drafted higher because of his potential. The same exact thing could happen with Fournette and Chubb. Fournette could put up better numbers the next two seasons, and Chubb could still get drafted higher on measureables, or vice versa.

The point is anyone saying that one is better than the other, hands down, is going to look stupid at some point.

So, his potential? The thing that so many LSU fans use with Fournette? The thing that UGA fans love to laugh at and then throw stats around?

Got it.

DannyB- I've got to call you out on this one. "Knowing" what AU is doing and stopping it is not the same as "knowing" what LSU is doing and stopping it. Fwiw I saw very little evidence that LSU knew what LSU was doing. It's like you're picking on the mentally challenged kid. Don't be a bully.

Are you saying Gurley wasn't a proven back and all he had was "potential"? LMFAO

How dumb are you?

I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of UGA fans saying Gurley is better than Gordon based on anything other than his potential going forward.

Nothing, other than that, says he was better in 2013 or 2014.

You have officially jumped the shark. You just put LF in the same category as Todd Gurley. You saying Todd Gurley didn't prove himself? He was drafted in the top 10 because he was tall and fast and had such potential? Come on man.

No. He was drafted that high because when he played, he was every bit as productive as Gordon - and against better defenses.

If LF only played 6 games last year but averaged 150 yards a game, your argument would hold water.

Seriously? I didn't once compare Fournette to Gurley.

I'm just pointing out the fact that, to UGA fans, Gurley > Gordon because of potential while ignoring all stats, but the idea that Fournette could possibly be better than Chubb is hysterical because of stats and only stats.

My argument hold water regardless. Gordon outperformed Gurley in every facet in 2013 and 2014, but Gurley was drafted higher and is regarded as the better back based on potential.

You guys trying to deny that is coming off as insecure as LSU fans denying that Chubb was better last year.

If you compare the LF/ NC deal to TG3/ MG you have in fact compared the two- when they couldn't be further apart. Todd Gurley was WAY beyond potential. You realize he only played in 5-6 games last year, right?

You guys really need to stop the madness. LF is a good player who will probably be great. Chubb is already great. Leave it at that.
