Chavis got 435 yards and 17 points of help against Alabama in 2012. Alabama was averaging 250 yards allowed and 10.9 points per game in 2012. They allowed 173 yards passing per game, Mettenberger threw for 296. They allowed 76 rushing yards a game. LSU nearly doubled that and ran for 139. The offense gave Chavis a lead in the 4th quarter on a Mettenberger TD pass to Jarvis Landry. Alabama got the ball with 1:34 left on the lock on the 28 yard line. It took them all of 43 seconds to take the lead. That's on John Chavis, I'm sorry.

Bama was averging 40.6 points per game that year leading up to the LSU game. Chavis held them to 20 points less than their average.

So to put this in perspective: the LSU offense scored 6 points more than what the Bama defense was surrendering that season. While the LSU defense limited Bama to 20 points less than what they had been scoring.

You're right. Clearly, the defense was the problem that game.

I know I'm right. Chavis couldn't hold onto a 4th quarter lead in the final 2 minutes of the game, yet again
