I have a 42gal Oceania hex and it's a pretty deep tank but all the fish prefer to swim at the bottom (2 mollies, 2 guppies, and 7 neon tetra.)
Aquarium people,
Do you have any recommendations to add variety at different levels?
Thank you,
Rad Possum

Well, Dale, they are what's called a trophy fish. So, yeah, they're pretty big.

I think we had various types gouramis that swam mid to top...this was 20 years ago though so I could be really off

I just got 13 neon tetras in June, in a 55 gal tank.
8 are left.
5 died within the first week but these last seven are good and hearty.
I've also noticed they will not eat the red fish flakes.
The flakes in this bottle are red, yellow, and green.
They won't eat the red ones.
I think this weekend I'm going to add 20 more tetras.

you need a quarantine tank
check the ammonia levels of your tank. espeically if you aren't doing partial water changes like you are supposed to. fish hanging out at the bottom of the tank is a tale tell sign of ammonia poisoning
especially if you had 5 fish die your first week that's crazy. you fricking fish hitler dude lol
also what's the water temp

Ammonia level was .25 using a master test kit and the guy at Bob's Tropical Fish recommended adding Prime. I've been on a once a week water changing schedule.. so I'm thinking maybe it's the plants? The neon tetra stay at the bottom with the guppies and the mollies pace the side of the tank.
