Matt Jones was awesome. If he went to a power program he could have lead a team to a National Title.

Negative. Not a leader type, not a committed worker that would motivate the guys around him.

Everyone else that recruited him wanted him as a WR, only Nutt gave him the chance to play QB, and Jones' crazy ability to improvise and make plays saved the bacon many, many, many times. The team got put into many of those comeback and multiple OT situations by Jones not being focused until it got to those pressure situations or needing to make a miraculous comeback.

Unfortunately I don't have any party stories of the guy. I worked in a club in town during that time so I wasn't on Dickson too much.

If he'd have played for a head coach with half a brain and some semblance of an offensive mind, he'd have done much more here than he did.

I often think Matt Jones just came along about 5 years too early. Spread option offenses weren't the norm when he was in college, and he played for a moron of a head coach with a terrible offensive mind. It wasn't until after he graduated that the spread option became more widely utilized. He was Cam Newton before Cam Newton, only faster.
