Sucks losing Carroll, but 15 million a year might be a little much if they are insistent Millsap at 20 a year.

I would take Carroll at 15 a year over Milsap at 20 a year in a heartbeat. Carrol played great all year and for stretches of time in the playoffs seemed like the only player we had on the floor.

Losing Carroll make the draft/trades landing a backup shooting guard look even worse. I would have much rather drafted Portis and kept Carroll, let Milsap go and sign Splitter. Then go get a backup shooter to Korver.

Love Bud the coach. Not too impressed with Bud the GM.

No doubt Carroll was really good for us last year but All-Star PFs are a lot harder to come by than Small Forwards who are good at playing in Bud's system. I think we can get similar production in that position for a much cheaper price than the 15 a year we would've had to shell out to Carroll. Also Carroll is coming off of knee surgery so that is something to take into consideration.

It's easy to forget that Carroll was literally a nobody when Bud started with him. I think Hardaway Jr will play a bigger role than some might think. Seemed like the Hawks zeroed in on him for some reason.

That is the only reason for hope though, I think. Losing your most versatile player, probably overpaying for Millsap if they convince him to stay, and making Splitter the 4th highest paid player on the team when he hasn't shown that he can be a starting center in the NBA yet...not really inspiring moves at this juncture.
