We didn't "just miss" in 1983 and 2004. We "just missed" in 2013. Falling short and getting screwed are two totally different things.

1983 we were inarguably the most deserving team of the title and in 2004 we went undefeated and got screwed by a terrible system. Events after the fact only made it inarguable 2004 Auburn deserved to be recognized as national champions as well.

Cry me a fricking river. We had just as many losses as LSU in 07 and they got to play for the title even though we were ranked higher before they played UT. USC would have mud stomped AU so the voters saved your arse.
