I've got to say, prior to this thread, I would have never thought about coming down to Birmingham for a weekend. After reading it, I'm pretty intrigued. It sounds like it's really on the come up.
Knoxville is also making a ton of improvements all over downtown and going through our own revitalization. So I can imagine how the Bham faithful feel.
We've got 11 new breweries (on top of the 5 already here) coming downtown over the next 18 months. The city is creating an "Ale Trail" from our old city district up to the Happy holler neighborhood. Where there's going to be between 7-8 breweries with in a mile radius of each other. With the other options going in different districts. We've really been pushing the Asheville model and are shooting to become a lively craft beer and outdoor destination.
Just in case anybody's trying to get their beer on while up here for a game.

Knoxville's a very pretty city and I've been paying close attention to their new downtown revitalization. Planning on taking my boat up there before the summer is up.
