(Against the lowly Indiana Hoosiers)
This is really the weakness of the Tigers offense.(o-line)

The o-line was still being shuffled around before & during the Indy game....after that game the o-line lineup was pretty set.

I just really hope they keep McGovern inside and someone steps up to play that left tackle position.

I wouldn't say its a weakness, but they do need to settle on positions and quit doing so much damn shuffling. The handling of the OL is really my biggest beef with Pinkel.
As Reedus says, McGovern needs to be at RG and Cuellar or Howell at LT. Can't understand bringing in two JUCO tackles and then moving your best guard to tackle. Makes no sense.

Agree Reedus & Quintana. But it only makes sense if Cuellar or Howell can't cut-it at LT. LT is an important position. They make movies about it. The NFL (passing league) pays extra for that position for a reason.

I'd give GP a little bit of a break for last year. Remember we just got a new o-line coach about 30 minutes before the season started and didn't we lose someone just before the season also?

I agree, but my point is more this...
1. McGovern is a much better guard than tackle. He's also a much better guard than anyone else on the roster. So you are essentially weakening two positions.
2. If Cuellar/Howell aren't good enough to hold down the tackle spots then we shouldn't have recruited them. Recruiting developmental freshman is one thing. JUCOs need to be ready to play.

1. We are in complete agreement
2. Agree but I'm thinking Cuellar will be the starter no later than game 4.

Although this is true GP has a habit of using his best/most athletic OL at LT. Says more about McGovern than others.
Also Howell hasn't even been on campus yet. GP has stated that you recruit JUCO so that they play. I expect both to be starters at some point this season.

Yeah, I just don't see Howell being ready from day 1. Just not enough time. Cuellar is a different story. If he's not playing this year, it was a waste. I'd rather have a true freshman riding the pine and developing instead of someone you only have for 2 years riding the pine. If Cuellar turns out to not be good enough to hold down that spot, well, I'll just shake my head and hope for the best.
I really have no idea nor expectations when it comes to Howell. It seems fall camp is just so short, I don't know how he's ready to even see the field before midway through the season.

Howell was the 4th rated OT coming out of JUCO this past recruiting class.
The question is whether one of the 2 proves to be good enough to let McGovern stay at Guard. Cuellular may play guard this year.

My concern isn't necessarily with Howell's ability but the fact he's here for such a short time before the season starts and learning the book and the system and the lingo and so forth. Much less building chemistry with the guys to his right and left. If he plays, much less starts, I can't see it until half way through the season.
