These blowouts are due to the SEC adding too many teams to the tournament. They run out of pitchers and get slaughtered. Some want it to return to 10 teams while others want only eight.
They won't reduce the number because it would often eliminate the teams who were this year's #9 & #11 seeds. More home cooking & greed from the SEC.

You bring up a good point.
I do think there are too many games, especially with regionals not far away after the tourney.
Would going back to 10 teams help? Possibly. What if only the top 2 seeds got byes?
