Oh it absolutely did. Tubbs being destroyed 36-0 certainly didn't HELP his case to stay as Auburn HC. Better damn well believe if he had continued beating Bama, he would have stayed at Auburn. Any other belief is delusion. Same with Fulmer. His entire career was built on beating Alabama while they were in probation.
Once the gravy train ended, time to pay the piper. To the tune of 8 consecutive wins over those hillbillies. I know it was a fun time for all of you, I'm not sorry it ended in such spectacular fashion lol.

You can lay a partial claim on Fulmer, even though he was 11-6 vs. Bama, but you're delusional if you think Bama had anything to do with Tubbs or Croom.
Tubbs was 7-3 vs. Bama, including 6 in a row prior to his last season. He wasn't fired because of one loss.
Croom was 2-3 vs. Bama, including 2 in a row before his last season. He wasn't fired because of losses to Bama. He was fired for being 2-3 in the Egg Bowl with 2 embarrassing losses and for never beating LSU.
