Too many rockers on these lists; they're way too skewed:
Sinatra, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Hendrix, Dylan, Steven Sondheim, Aaron Copland, Robert Johnson, John Cage and--take your pick--Hank Williams, Howlin' Wolf or Jelly Roll morton.

First of all, "musician," "singer," and "songwriter" are all different things, yet can be the same thing.
Your subject line and your ten answers do not make sense .... meaning, you are obviously a woman in a man's body Bruce.
In the meantime, we'll play by the rules of your deed rather than your word.
In no particular order ...
Jeff Beck
Kenny G
The Marsalis Brothers
Burt Bacharach
Johnny Cash
Van Morrison
Lou Reed
Billy Joel
Todd Rungren
The Wilson Sisters (Heart)
Lennon & McCartney
Stevie Wonder
John & Taupin
Carole King (waaay underrated)
... is that ten yet?

I enjoy a chuck berry song now and then, but if you ever put on one of his records and listen all the way through, its the same song over and over, with the same riffs. They rarely even change key. They would detune the piano in the studio to match his guitar because he was tone deaf.
If we are taking someone from that genre, it has to be little richard.
Eta- Harry Belafonte is twice the singer, writer , performer as Sinatra.

Chick invented "prog" in the band Return to Forever (withother notable members). Spain is but a skid mark in the underwear of his career.

What?! This dude plays the same riff over and over and over and over. All his songs sound exactly alike. If you know music theory, Dude has played in the same mode and like two positions since 1960. I must disagree.

But you have no beef with the rest of my list. 9 our of 10 isn't too bad.

Yeah, the others have a solid argument for inclusion, I'd say. Good list!
