Let's say these are the results from the last 5 seasons.

nit appearance.
1st round loss.
Elite 8 loss.
2nd round loss.
1st round loss.

What would the reaction be from the administration/staff. What would the fan reaction be? Do you think these results are commensurate with the program's investment in the sport and the heritage? Are those results meeting reasonable expectations?

There will be a follow up question

Is this a serious question or a set up for a troll attempt? I think you know what the answer would be.

For Kentucky? That looks a lot like the late Tubby years and after a stretch it wasn't acceptable. That said, not all schools should be held to the same standards based upon tradition, coaching, etc. If that's say, South Carolina, that's absolutely acceptable as they build their program.

Tubby never went to the NIT...only once did not make it past the 2cd round in the NCAA.

I'm aware. He was pretty consistently not making Final Fours and plateaued, which is the comparison I was making.

Yep, plus his staff got lazy with recruiting.

I do not know where the OP is going with this...but the scenario he posted would not fly in BBN land. I don't think the base would even allow a 3rd year. Billy lasted 2 years with a NCAA and a visit to the NIT.

This is exactly what I thought the response would be. Several people on td are arguing that mainieri hasn't underachieved but, the last 5 seasons look a lot like the hypothetical in the op. Ky is pretty much the most elite basketball program and lsu is pretty much the baseball equivalent. My point is that the postseason results aren't commensurate with the program's investment in the sport. Ky would not let those results last for long. Now if he wins a couple of games in omaha this season (no 0-2), then I would say the ship is being righted. That would be 2 out of the last 3 years which is excellent of course

But Maineri won a Title and has made runs in the tourney. I agree, he needs to get his shite together, losing in the regions and Supers the past couple of years has to make the LSU base a tad pissy.

how far off do you think the op is from the baseball equivalent? I think it's about as close as you can get. Ky wouldn't be ok with it but some lsu fans are arguing that it's fine. I'm with ky. No way should that be ok. Stony brook and Houston are very much overshadowing the '09 championship

Again if he wins a couple of games this year then fine. We'll see.

When I saw a thread about Ky fans, I figured this was going to be an Aggy troll.
