I guess maybe that depends on where in the state you are from.
Seems the north and east side tend to think of themselves more B1G'ish.

I'm from SW MO...dang near Oklahoma. But if you ask people from states in the B1G, I'd say prolly IA, MN, IN, IL, OH probably classify themselves as "midwestern."

Besides Missouri, I'd say MAYBE Kentucky and Arkansas would claim midwestern status in the SEC.

So comparatively....but no use bringing it up until the B1G decides they want to go to their 16 team mega-conference
