He's criminally insane.

This verdict was very rare in that the jury delivered a 1st degree conviction based entirely on circumstantial evidence .... which means the jury was convinced they were looking at a cold blooded animal.

He's still got some other trials to go-through.

He thought he was untouchable. He thought he would get-away with it. When you mix that much money with his mentality something like this is usually going to happen. I suspect a lot of times we never know about it because the person never gets caught.

His mistake was allowing witnesses .... but that was also part of his pathology. He wanted to be Tony Montana.

I'm not sure he's insane, at least in the traditional sense. But maybe a sociopath. It's the complete and total lack of empathy and remorse that just disturbs me most about him.

Agree absolutely. He'd gotten away with too much, doubtless with help in college, and didn't see that changing.
