Actually our pass defense has been garbage the past two seasons. If it stinks this year that would make it 3 in a row...so yeah I think something is off and needs to be tweaked if not fixed completely. And I think Saban agrees which is why he hired an NFL secondary coach in the offseason. We will see how it goes, but simplifying things will go a long way with just allowing your best talent on the field much like the other programs previously mentioned. Pruitt did the same thing at UGA last year...started a bunch of young guys, made it simple and their pass defense was night and day better his first year there. It can be done...hope we do it.

Na, it really wasn't garbage in 2013. It wasn't the best, but it certainly wasn't awful.

And that might have worked for UGA's secondary last year, but they were downright bad on the front end at times last year.

I will take what we have all day over that.

Within the past couple of years, I've been thinking the same...our D is so complex and it's been very good when we've had talented veterans out there and every one was on the same page. But I think the complexity might be part of the problem...even in the years where we've had great pass defense, we've been susceptible to occasional broken coverages where at least one DB was confused 'bout his assignment. And the spread teams are getting better in causing confusion...
