It simply opens up guaranteed spots they know they'll have when recruiting for the 2016 class instead of doing it next year. Obviously Tarrant was someone they didn't want to leave because he would've been our best player, but if Mitchell wasn't processed, I don't think our staff worked hard trying to convince him to stay when he brought up leaving.

I do think this means we should try to add Ingram plus another guard and post in the spring if we can. Hopefully we can find some rent a players.

Then why not process him next year? That's how it's usually done. It just makes no sense to process a player unless you can fill his scholarship in the coming class.

I'm hopeful they'll be bringing in transfers. If not, I guess that means Pettway/Johnson don't think he can compete at this level.

@ebosshoops: 2015 4star shooter Tevin Mack’s summer coach tells me UNC, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Kansas, Ga. State, UCLA inquired today

@ebosshoops: Mack recently asked for and was given his release from VCU. Speculation has been that he is a good bet to follow Shaka Smart to Texas

You'd think if he doesn't follow Shaka he'll end up at USC. Doesn't hurt to at least gauge his interest though.

Mitchell explains why he left. From that wording, hopefully Johnson has Ingram plus other lined up.

Pretty much sounds like he was told he wouldn't play much. Not surprising since he couldn't play with all our injuries last year. Hopefully that means Ingram is lined up to join us and maybe someone else we can add for next year

I really don't think Tarrant was high on CAJs list of players to keep. A shoot first, TO prone point guard doesn't exactly fit CAJs style of play. He wants a distributor at point. I could be wrong, but if they made it obvious they wanted him, why wouldn't he have stayed?

I don't think any reasonable coach would want the best player on the roster to leave as long as they aren't an issue off the court.

Who knows? He may have had a close bond with Grant, maybe someone close to him told him to move on, or maybe he wants to go to a school that may have a better chance of making the tournament next year

Or like you think, maybe he was pushed out the door.

Very mature the way Mitchell handled that. Good luck young man.

Hopefully Coach Doss sends Petty to Bama. I know he loves Alabama.

I don't understand bringing in Willie Koussie (spelling). Rumor is he is coming to back up Taylor next year.

Whats wrong with that. We need a backup center so that Kessens can play 4.

Yeah I'd be fine with that. Hall could possibly even play the 4 too. That let's Norris go to the 3 and Hale can split time at the 3-4.

From what I've heard Hall has significant more offensive game than Taylor had coming in, but still needs to get much stronger. Taylor, Hall, Kessens and WK would be a decent group. If AJ brings in WK then it would appear that Hale and Norris would primarily play the 3 instead of the 4 like they did under AG. I like the idea of having 4 true big men on a roster with a SF or two capable of playing the 4 if we chose to go small.

Speaking of WK, I'm trying to remember this correctly but did he not have some connections to a B'ham AAU coach or a high school coach when he initially came out of HS and AG did something that bruised the relationship? It seems like we might have offended the coach and he steered WK to Auburn. Maybe I'm wrong but if so, it would seem like a double win to give a second chance to a Sr. big man at the SEC level while repairing a relationship damaged in the past.

Willy Kouassi. I googled. Would he come without his HS/Auburn/KSU teammate and fellow Ivory Coast born Bernard Morena?

His high school, AAU coach, and guardian is Darien Knox. That's Justin Knox's uncle. When Grant blocked Knox's transfer to UAB, that started a lot of bad blood.
