The thing about most of these "mid-majors".....basketball is king there. The upper echelon mid-major guys can hold out for a top job. Money aside, bama just is not a top job. IMO, they are going to need to find the best up and comer available.

When you're considering a job offer, where does money fall on the scale of things you consider?

It would play a factor. I am a southern boy. I wouldn't move to Minnesota for double my salary. That being said......the established mid-major coaches are already multi-millionaires. These guys are on the fast track to getting an elite job.

ETA If you go to bama and don't succeed, you have to start at the bottom of the ladder and try to work your way back up. That is a factor I have not seen you mention one time.

I know you're not asking me, but I'll respond anyway. It's the first thing I look for in a job. It's certainly not an end-all-be-all, and I wouldn't just take any position that paid more than my current one. But leaving 1.1M on the table is not something I'd be comfortable doing, whether I'm already wealthy or not.
