Basketball recruiting is not football recruiting. You only get to sign a few players a year. Would give you much more time to assess players and your own needs.
I don't know too much about A.J., but we have had success with A.J.'s in the past. Also C.J.'s, D.J.'s, E.J.'s, T.J.'s etc..,

Why was Isiah Thomas such a failure at the college level?
This was easily identified. Please see this post:

Are you really comparing AJ to Isiah Thomas? The Isiah Thomas who didn't have the best personality. Never won over .585 in NBA. Never won Coach of the Year. Had a drug overdose on lunesta and then told everyone that it wasn't him that went to the hospital but instead his 17 yr old daughter? The Isiah Thomas who was sued due to sexual harrassment? The leader of the Detroit Pistons "Bad Boys"? The Isiah Thomas who created a controversy @ NBA All star game because they wouldn't pass the ball to Jordan because he was receiving too much attn?
Yea, please let's compare the too about why Isiah failed and how NBA experience doesn't help Bama because it didn't with Isiah.

It's ok just handle the X's and O's.Coach Saban will handle the recruiting till you get on your feet.

I'm told AJ is VERY active and well liked on the AAU circuit often holding clinics and such for AAU. If that's true, he's got recruiting 80% whipped.

He'll be a recruiting machine, just hope he can coach them

Everyone knows there is a risk to this hire. But he offers the most upside, by far, of anyone we could have landed, including Marshall IMO. If his experience, celebrity status, and charisma can translate to the college game like we hope, he will be able to recruit toe to toe with the major programs. Prohm and even Marshall/Miller were as big of unknowns when it comes to recruiting elite talent as AJ is. But I know more 5 star kids know who AJ is than any of those names. "Hi, I'm Archie Miller and I went to the sweet 16 at Dayton" does not get you into the same living rooms as "Hi, I'm Avery Johnson, NBA championship winner and former NBA coach of the year."

The only delusion is to refute what he said as absolute truth...
If anyone thinks that somehow a person that has been successful at EVERYTHING he's done (including making a horrible Nets team far better) is going to struggle in college X and O's and recruiting.... then you're going to be horribly disappointed.
There's a FAR greater chance that AJ will win big at Bama than the chance of him being a complete failure.

Sorry I cant suspend reality and live in fantasyland like you. All ive done in this thread is present facts and all yall have done is say things like "wow" "you are an auburn alter" "you are a troll" "thats a stretch"
Its a bad hire. Could he prove me wrong? Sure, but historical evidence is not on Bama's side here.
