I really don't think you guys realize how bad Ray was.

Mississippi State had only one losing season in the 20 years prior to his hiring he had 3 in his 3 years as HC

Ray was 37-61 (13-41 in the sec) the guys some of you are listing made ncaa tournaments. Rick Ray had 4 road wins in 3 years

Because none of that was the previous coaches fault for leaving the program in a terrible situation. Not defending Ray, but to still be so blind as to why we fell so far so fast is insane.

No ray wasn't the worst hire but in my opinion he was the right hire to clean up the mess. The players aren't running the team, rays players are better students than ever in a long time and he started a serious foundation rebuild. One of the tv stations mentioned a lot of this and I was unaware of all the behind the scenes stuff he did. In my opinion State is in a better position now to rebuild the winning side of the program now that ray has built a foundation. The sad part is that Asa. Coach he will only get hired on his wins and losses vice wha this real contribution was to the program. To me a team that is foundationally unstable should look to hire ray maybe as an assistant to rebuild the basic program but ADs want wins obviously but sometimes there's just more to it!

My 2 cents, adjusted for inflation 1.1 cents really
