Ole Miss for athletics.

The University of Mississippi for academics.

I think that was it.

Seems Jones polled faculty and such to see if the name Ole Miss was offensive.
A majority said "no" and that they saw it as a term of respect for the alma mater.

Jones didn't like that outcome and plowed ahead.
Huge outcry made them retract some of the proposed renaming of the University. That is called putting your toe in the water to see the reaction. TOE got smushed!

It's not a conservative or liberal thing....it's a matter of changing something with no clear outcry to do so. Kind of like your doctor doing tests to see if you have gall bladder problems.
If he finds nothing wrong, does he remove the gall bladder anyway? I mean...he gets paid more for a gall bladder operation so what's the harm? You don't need that healthy gall bladder. You can live without it. Do you want a doctor to alter your body at what he thinks best ignoring the outcome of tests and opinions?

But Yes, I am a conservative if it means standing up for what you believe in and not caving in to the power and greed of the politics of the day. I am a conservative if you think tradition and heritage are important to everyone...not just a select few. Judge me by how I treat you not the fight song I love.

But sleep well, those of you who disagree, I am not a mega millionaire and have NO influence whatsoever on the progress of those who revise and disguise history in the name of apologizing and placating so you can convince better football recruits to come to Ole Miss. By better, you mean black athletes which is also racist. The opportunity is here for any race to play football at Ole MIss or anywhere else.

You think we are much improved in football because we laid down the flag, the colonel, and Dixie? Pray tell, if we STILL can't be top of the heap in football in the future.....what else will have to go? You see, you are trying to squash someone's heritage not to better mankind, but to win in football. Are you really that shallow?
You are so entitled to your opinion and ideas of what it will take to make Ole Miss acceptable to the world, but there are two sides to the controversy. You cannot legislate morality for people. You cannot erase the past or make amends for it. Neither should you be asked to do so.
What you can do is live your life so that the detractors look like fools for suggesting you change.
It is an emotional argument and likely never to be fully resolved. This country is based on the majority rules. If it were not so, We would not yet have a black President. A democracy represents ALL the sides.....not just the ones who have more money.

Put it to a vote. That is all anyone asks. You can bet your butt that won't happen because the agenda of the liberal/progressive bunch would suffer a major defeat.
