He created problems that did not exist. He ignored many voices of folks who happen to love Ole Miss as much ( or more) as he says he does.
He, like a few before him, did not allow the decisions to be a choice by those who support the university....like a FAIR vote.
The neutering of the school that was once called Ole Miss will continue until the majority speaks and is heard. Trampling the traditions in the name of progress is baloney!

By all means insist that the changes make us a better people thus institution. That is also baloney. Only God can change the hearts of men and thus their actions. You cannot legislate morality.

If that is the way of politics...so be it. This is a democracy not a dictatorship.

All traditions aren't good traditions.....Van Jefferson's Dad didn't want him to come because of preconceived notions about Mississippi. That perception has hindered us in the past. I don't think Hugh would have had the recruiting success that he has had if some changes didn't occur. Over 90% of the football team is African American. If you want to recruit the top athletes, then you have to have the right appearance. Singing a song that was song by "blackface" performers won't help that cause. Traditions be damned. I will take recruits and a winning program over the relics of tradition any day. You can condemn his approach, but you cant discredit his goal. Just my opinion, though.

I find it ironic that it's only the really conservative fans that want to believe we're no longer called Ole Miss.

Yeah, frick that James Meredith guy! Change is always bad!

Seriously, you could use this EXACT same post with what John Davis Williams did. Please read that post back and tell me it doesn't sound like it.

The university is not a democracy. I really hope for the value of my own degree that you didn't graduate from here.
